Martin’s Trip

Leaving Bunk Campers

Motorhome Hire Ireland

After leaving Bunk Campers Campervan Hire depot in Belfast we had our first stop in Cushendall. From here we visited Carrick-a-Reed rope bridge and the Giant’s Causeway and stayed at the campsite in Magilligan.

The Journey

On we went through Derry and Letterkenny to Glenveagh National Park where we visited the castle. We also had a look at Ionad DÚN LÚICHE (Dunlewy) where we could see how world famous weaver Manus Ferry lived and worked.

Motorhome Hire IrelandOn we went through Gweedore and Killybegs to Donegal, where we visited the castle. The next two nights we stayed at Lakeside campsite in Ballyshannon. A good spot to stay, from there we were able to take days trip round lower lough Erne. We visited Belleek pottery, Boa island and Florence Court near Enniskillen. Through the beach town of Bundoran and Manorhailton we went to Glencar to admire the waterfall. Next stop was Drumcliffe to visit the grave of famous Irish poet, Yeats.Around lough Gill we want to Cranmore to visit the Astone graves stayed at Strandhill that night.

Motorhome Hire IrelandContinuing our Camper van Hire Ireland tour, next we visited Killala and the Ceide fields Neolithic site, dating back over 5000 years. Here we stayed in Ballina for 2 nihts. A day trip took us around lough Conn visiting the Titanic memorial in Addergoole, the country life museum in Turlough Park House, Castlebar, Co. Mayo and Tom Hinnigans farm heritage museum. The latter was a very interesting! An entertaining person told us about life on the farm and about the cottage his family have owned for 200 years – he was born and raised there!

Motorhome Hire IrelandVia Castlebar we went to Westport then along the coast below Croagh Patrick towards Louisburgh and through Tawnymackan Bog (Natural Heritage Area). Tawnymackan had some of the most stunning landscapes that was saw our campervan hire trip around Ireland! That night we stayed in Renvyle which is a very beautiful campsite.

From Clifden and Maam Cross we continued to Cong (location of the Quiet Man cottage) where we visited the abbey and it’s ruins. Via Claremorris we went on to Lough Arrow to park our Bunk Camper for the night.

Motorhome Hire IrelandWe really can recommend Lough Arrow Touring Caravan Park for over night parking on your Campervan Hire Ireland holiday!

Turning back a little bit like we came through Sligo and Ballyshannon to Omagh to visit Ulster American folk park. This night we stayed Sperrin Mountains Camping & Caravan Park near Gortin. We visited Gortin glen forest park and went on to Dungannon. From there we toured along the south east coast and stayed two days to Cranfield and then three days in Annalong. Annalong is a really nice and picturesque village and nearby Mourne mountains nearby a really beautiful for outdoor activities and campervan drives..

Last Few Days

Motorhome Hire IrelandThe last few days we stayed at the campsite in Dundonald as it is conveniently located close to Bunk Campers Campervan Hire Belfast depot. On the last few days of our campervan hire Ireland holiday we visited Belfast and Mount Stewart.

Besides seeing a lot of interesting sites and beautiful landscapes, what I like most about Ireland is the people! We met a lot of interesting people on our campervan hire Ireland holiday, heard stories and had fun. Everyone was open and helpful.

TMotorhome Hire Irelandhe Bunk Camper suited us well and has been our home on wheels for three weeks.

Slainte!

Martin
