How do I book a Bunk Camper?

You can price your campervan hire, book and pay for your campervan securely on our website.

What is included in Bunk Campers daily rental rate?

  • VAT (sales tax)
  • Insurance for one named driver with a UK or Irish driving licence *
  • Unlimited kilometres
  • 24 hour AA Roadside Recovery
  • Kitchen box & campervan equipment

What currency can I pay in?

You can pay in £ (GBP) or € (euro).

Payment is by credit card only, There is a 3% credit card surcharge.

What is the minimum age to rent a Bunk Camper campervan?

The minimum age to hire a Roadie 2 person campervan or a Ranger 4 person campervan is 21 years. If you are a student, you must be 23 years of age and have held your drving licence for 2 years.

The minimum age to hire an Aero person campervan or a Vista 4 person campervan is 25 years.

What does insurance cover?

Bunk Campers provide vehicle insurance so the hirer is properly indemnified for the period of hire. Bunk Campers provide insurance as part of the cost of the hire - no other or alternative insurance is acceptable. This insurance covers:

  • Third party liability for personal injury.
  • Third party liability for material damage.
  • Personal accident. Insurance is not included.
  • All hirers should arrange additional travel insurance suitable to their particular requirements.

Can I reduce my insurance excess?

Yes. You can reduce the insurance excess by 50% for any damage caused in a collision to either the campervan or third party property. See website for current costs.

This does not cover the cost of damage to windscreens, tyres or wing mirrors. You can purchase our "Special Cover" package. See website for current costs.

What deposit do I pay on collection of the campervan?

Bunk Campers combine the Insurance Excess, Security Deposit and Cleaning Deposit into one deposit payment.
A refundable deposit of £750 / €900 is payable for rental of the 2 berth Roadie Bunk Camper
A refundable deposit of £1000 / €1200 is payable for the rental of a 2 berth Aero Bunk Camper or 4 berth Ranger or Vista Bunk Camper
Payable by credit card only on collection. This is payable on collection of your campervan

The amount will be debited from the card and is returnable within 7 working days on the following conditions:

  • Campervan returned to the agreed location, on the agreed date and time
  • Campervan returned with interior clean, waste tank emptied and the fuel tank full.
  • All items are returned at end of hire in clean and full working order as per the 'Departure Check list'

A cleaning fee of £100 (GBP) will be charged if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition.
A fee of £100 (GBP) will be charged if the toilet and waste tank are not emptied prior to the return of the vehicle.

What equipment is supplied for the camper van? (to be edited into a table)

KITCHEN EQUIPMENT
Glasses, mugs, cooking pots, frying pan, kettle, chopping board, cutlery including tin opener, bottle opener.

CAMPERVAN EQUIPMENT
2 berth & 2 berth deluxe - dustpan & brush, water hose, electric hook up cable, gas tank, tank of water
4 berth - dustpan & brush, water hose, electric hook up cable, gas, full tank of water, clients to purchase own toilet chemicals

HIRABLE EXTRAS - OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT
2 berth & 2 berth deluxe - camping table & 2 camping chairs
4 berth - camping table & 4 camping chairs

What items are available to rent?

We rent bedding & towel kits.

  • 2 person kit includes: 1 double duvet & cover, 1 sheet, 2 pillows, 2 towels.
  • 1 person kit includes: 1 single duvet  & cover, 1 sheet, 1 pillow, 1 towel. 

What other equipment is available to rent?

  • Tents - £25 (GBP) / €30 (euro) per rental
  • Roof Rack & Storage Box - £35 (GBP) / £45 (GBP) per rental
  • GPS (satellite navigation) £35 (GBP) / €45 (euro) per rental
  • DVD player £15 (GBP) / €18 (euro) per rental

We do not rent child seats, bicycles, electric generators, portable toilets, heaters etc

Do your campervans have toilet and shower facilities?

Our AERO 2 person DELUX / RANGER 4 person campervan / VISTA 4 person campervan have a toilet and shower.

The standard 2 berth camper has no shower and toilet facilities.

Do you have any automatic vehicles?

No, all our vehicles are currently manual gears.

Where are Bunk Campers depots located?

Our depots are located 10 minutes drive from Dublin International, Belfast International and Belfast City airports. We offer transfers to and from the airports to our depot locations. See website for current charges.

Once you have received your driver details, we will send you the address of our depots.

How do I get collected from the airport?

We offer airport transfers. See website for current charges. If you book an airport transfer with us, our customer service team will arrange the details of this with you prior to your arrival. You will be given the depot telephone number so you can give us a call once you have collected your luggage.

What are Bunk Campers office opening hours?

Our administration office is open for general enquiries Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm.

What are Bunk Campers depot opening hours?

The depots open 7 days a week for rentals during the season.
Collection and return of the campervan is strictly between10am - 4 pm 7 days a week.

What happens if I return the campervan late?

The latest time to return the campervan is 4pm. The charge for late returns is one day's rental.

Can I collect my campervan outside of depot opening hours?
Early and Late collection of the campervan can be arranged prior to arrival. See website for costs.
Early collections are from 7.30 -10.00. Late collections are from 16.00-18.30.

How long does it take for the check in and check out process?

Allow 45 minutes for the check in and demonstration of camper van at our depot.
Allow 45 minutes for us to check the campervan once you have returned it to our depot.

How will I know how to use the campervan?

Don't worry, lots of our campervan hire customers are first timers! Regardless of your campervan or motorhome knowledge, we complete a comprehensive check in and safety demonstration of all features of the campervan. We will show you how to use the camping gas, heating, electricity and of course how to empty the toilet!

Do I have emergency cover when I am on the road?

Yes. You have 24 hour Roadside Assistance is provided under the hire contract.

What average mileage does a Bunk Camper do?

We get asked about fuel consumption regularly! The good news is that all our vehicles are new models from either 2007 or 2008 and have the latest most fuel efficient engines.

  • 2 berth Roadie - Fiat Scudo, approximately 20 litres per 150km
  • 2 berth Delux Aero / 4 berth Ranger / 4 berth Vista - Fiat Ducato or similar, 20 litre per 125km

How long does the battery system last in the campervan?

Bunk Campers vehicles have two batteries - one to run the engine and the other to operate the living equipment such as the fridge and lights. This battery will remain charged for approximately 8 to 10 hours. When you drive the campervan, you will recharge the battery. If you flatten the battery you can switch on the engine to start it again. You will need to plug the vehicle into 240V mains power for the battery to fully recharge.

What do Bunk Campers charge for motorway toll fees in Ireland?

You are responsible for paying toll fees as you go. This excludes the Dublin M50 toll fee which is automatically charged to Bunk Campers and payable by the hirer to Bunk Campers on return of the campervan.

Do your allow pets?

No, we do not allow pets in our vehicles.

Do your allow smoking?

No, Smoking is strictly prohibited by law in the UK and Ireland in hire vehicles.

What campsite information is provided?
Bunk Campers provide campsite information booklets free of charge in each of the vehicles. To plan your trip in advance check out the following websites for general information:

What is the best time of year to visit Ireland?

The main season is March to November. We advise that campsites shut late September to mid October. July and August are the busiest months for visiting Ireland. We think the best weather is May and June.
