Welcome to all Americans considering a visit to the Emerald Isle

For American visitors the warm and friendly welcome they receive often leaves the most lasting impression of their trip to Ireland. For those seeking their own Irish adventure there is so much to do and see around every part of the country.

Since Ireland's great famine in the 19th century there have been thousands of Irish people taking the trip across the Atlantic to begin a new life in America. It's no surprise that so many Americans fly back to the Emerald Isle each year to discover their Irish roots. After landing in Dublin a short stop in the National Archives will point budding genealogists in the right direction in tracing their Irish ancestry.

In general American visitors like to travel as much as possible on their trips around Ireland. Along the way American visitors can discover some of the world's most breathtaking scenery. A tour of Ireland's most best coastal drives will take in Cork and Waterford in the south, Kerry and Clare on the west coast and Donegal and Sligo in the north. In Northern Ireland Americans can see the causeway coast and learn about the famous Finn MacCool who built the Giant's Causeway, a stone bridge to Scotland.

There is even more to do in Belfast, lovers of traditional Irish music can experience a different act in a different venue every night in this "City of Music." Belfast is also home of the world famous Titanic. Before its ill-fated maiden journey the ship was built in Belfast, you can visit its birth place Harland & Wolfe shipbuilders.

Irish culture has evolved over the years, from the buzzing metropolis' of Dublin and Belfast you can travel back through time to Connemara, where Gaelic culture has been preserved for centuries. In the Burren and at Newgrange you can explore sites, both natural and man made, that have stood the test of time for thousands of years! Of course, no trip to Ireland is complete without kissing the Blarney Stone and being bestowed with the "Gift of the Gab."
