| photo | Only one hours drive from Galway city, take a ferry across to Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands. If you want to see picture postcard Ireland complete with thatched cottages, wild and remote beaches, neolithic tombs from Ireland's ancient. Listen closely on the Aran Islands and you will hear that only the Irish language is spoken by the locals. Visit during the summer months and hire bikes to explore the Ireland at your leisure. The Aran islands were put on the map by the television programme Father Ted which featured the fictional parish of Craggy Island. Rest assured the local characters will make your visit to the Aran Islands as colourful as the hapless Ted made his ministry! (or was it his mischief?) |
Croagh Patrick is situated 5 miles from the picturesque town of Westport, County Mayo. The tradition of pilgrimage to this holy mountain stretches back over 5,000 years from the Stone Age to the present day. It is one of the best known pilgrimage sites in the world and on Reek Sunday, the last Sunday in July, welcomes over 25,000 pilgrims visit the Reek.
