Since the seventeenth century, 'The Oul' Lammas Fair', has taken place annually in Ballycastle, Co Antrim. The fair marks the end of summer and beginning of harvest. The origins of the fair are embroiled in the myths and legends of Ireland. Craft and food stalls feature farm produce with local specialities include 'Yellow Man', a sweet honeycomb candy, and a red seaweed known as 'dulse'. The Puck Fair happens in Killorglin, in the heart of Kerry. One of Ireland's most unusual street festivals held in early August with hours of free family street entertainment.

Back in the North's capital city, watch Belfast come alive during its annual arts extravaganza, the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival 30 April - 10 May 2010. An array of international talent bringing comedy, music, street theatre, literature and much more to this vibrant quarter of Belfast City.

For literary fans, celebrate with James Joyce fans from all over the world at the Bloomsday Festival, many dress as Leopold Bloom from Ulysses. Join the crowds meandering through the streets of Dublin on a route that is followed by participants in the festival, with readings and re-enactments along the way.
Culture and tradition is explored at the Spring Fair Day at The Ulster American Folk Park from 3 - 6 April 2010. A unique insight into a typical market day of the late 19th century with story telling sessions, music, song and dance, craft demonstrations, horse and cart rides.

Walk the hills.

Ireland's endless landscape provides hillwalkers and ramblers with miles of countryside to explore. The Slievebloom Mountains a wonderful landscape located at the crossroads of Ireland less than 2 hours from Dublin, Galway, Belfast, Cork and Wexford. Every year the hill walking festival provides a focal point for locals and visitors of all ages and abilities.

The International Jazz Festival at Doonbeg offers a weekend of swing, dixie and jazz and will feature bands from Ireland, Britain and Europe. Non-stop music throughout the weekend at all the pubs and restaurants, jam sessions, open air music and bar-b-que as well as street entertainment. All performances are free of charge.

The Clancy Brothers Music and Arts Festival welcomes visitors from the USA, Europe, UK, and Ireland. Many pubs will have live traditional and folk music.

The 33rd Annual Folk and Traditional Music Festival in Ballyshannon is now the longest running festival of its kind in Ireland. The top performers in traditional Irish and Folk music have played at the Festival.
