Campers for sale

The Year of Food and Drink Scotland or how to make your mouth water in a campervan!

campervan hire scotland

Throughout 2015, Scotland is celebrating the Year of Food and Drink to share the country’s rich gastronomy and natural produce. Whether you are an avid foodie or just a curious holiday-maker, you won’t find a better time to enjoy regional delights while wondering at Scotland’s stunning scenery and vibrant culture.

With several food and drink trails all over the country, why not get on board your own home on wheels and follow them all? Stop along your way, try local specialties, learn recipes and cook them on board, dine with a view and toast with a good Scotch at sunset from the comfort of your campervan… Wherever you go, whatever you do, campervan hire Scotland gives you time and flexibility to taste the very best this country has to offer!

To make it easier, Bunk Campers have put together 5 indispensable food & drink routes in Scotland:

Scottish Cheese Trail

Scotland is well-known for producing some of the finest cheeses in the world. From our depots in Edinburgh or Glasgow, create your own itinerary through this “dairy world” with the help of the Scottish Cheese Trail and the freedom of your campervan. Set in breath-taking rural locations, many producers welcome visitors to their independent, quaint dairies. From Dumfries & Galloway to the Shetland Islands, from the Lothians to the Highlands, your campervan will take you to the tastiest Scottish cheeses!

Real Ale Trail

Since the Scottish man does not live by whisky alone, Scotland has also a strong tradition of brewing artisan, free-additive ale beer. With 30 traditional brewers located throughout Scotland, combine the Cheese Trail with some pints of the best Scottish Ale for an authentic mouth-watering experience! After the tasting, what about sitting late into the night and playing cards whist pouring some more beers on board your cozy campervan? But please remember, don’t drink & drive!

Seafood Trail

With thousands of miles of coastline and a long fishing tradition, it’s not surprising that the Seafood Trail is one of the most popular food routes in the country. Set against a backdrop of unspoilt coastline and tranquil lakes, head with your camper towards Argyll, Kintyre and Loch Fyne.  Once in the region, follow this trail through the best seafood restaurants working closely with the local fishermen. Fresh oysters, mussels, langoustines, salmon, haddock… all of them come directly from the sea to your plate!

Malt Whisky Trail

Speyside is the cradle of the most famous Single Malt whisky in the world. Drive your campervan through this 70-mile trail where Glenfiddich, Cardhu or The Glenlivet were born. With 9 distilleries to visit, challenge your senses and enjoy the Water of Life! Once back in your campervan, why not park up for a while and take the last glass of Scotch whilst admiring Speyside’s superb scenery through the window of your camper?

Arbroath Smokie Trail

Back to Bunk Campers’ Edinburgh depot, stop by the town of Arbroath in Angus and try its local delicacy, the world-famous smoked haddock or Arbroath Smokie. The trail includes serveral restaurants and producers offering authentic Smokies throughout Arbroath. However, for an authentic experience, ask a local about the traditional recipe, cook on board and taste your own Smokie with the beautiful Angus region as background.

Join the Year of Food and Drink Scotland 2015 with a succulent route around the country. This autumn, hire a campervan in Scotland from only £65 per day. Great value versus B&B’s and car rental!
