Festivals in Ireland – our favourites!
There are far too many events for us to possibly include in our first look at the Ireland festival season, but here are a few of our favourites…
Electric Picnic: This Ireland Festival is the biggest of its kind. A truly international Ireland festival, people travel from all over Europe to attend this amazing event. Electric Picnic was voted ‘Best Medium-Sized European Festival’ in the 2010 European Festival Awards, and has been voted ‘Best Big Festival’ in each of the last four Irish Festival Awards since they began in 2007. Of all the music festivals in Ireland, Electric Picnic is the one to watch.
Oxegen: Labelled Europe’s biggest music festival, Oxegen is the backbone in the long list of Irish festivals. Although scaled down in recent years, Oxegen is still a special highlight on the Ireland festival calendar and a must-see for anyone who has not yet experienced this grand extravaganza.
NW200: If music festivals are not your thing, there is a tremendous array of other festivals all around Ireland to attend during Ireland festival season. Our favourite amongst them is the North West 200. The North West 200 is a fantastic weekend of motorbike racing in and around the north coast of Northern Ireland, close to the Giants Causeway. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Ireland during Ireland Festival season, then the Northwest 200 is a must-see!
Campervan rental allows you to travel independently and in style to festivals across Ireland. Festival camping is available at most festivals as many take place in rural locations. Hire a campervan and steer clear of nasty festival toilets by having your own onboard shower and toilet and avoid high food prices by cooking onboard your campervan or motorhome!
