Campervan Hire Ireland - Roadtrip of your life competition winner

Competition winners Ellen and Marjory from Amsterdam share their story on their Campervan Hire Ireland Road Trip of a lifetime!

Campervan Hire Ireland - Roadtrip of your life competition winnerAfter months of anticipating we finally set out for our adventure on 27 April. We were picked up Belfast airport by Leanne of Bunkcampers. At the depot we met our home for the next week and it was slightly larger than we had anticipated!

As we had 6 days we decided to drive the Causeway Coastal Route that leads from Belfast to Londonderry. Northern Ireland greeted us with a lot of sunshine and friendly clouds and one of the most beautiful coastlines we ever saw. We didn’t know the ocean had so many shades of blue.

We stayed on campsite along the way, our absolute favorite was Ballyness Caravan park in Bushmills. On the Sunday evening and night we had rain and wind, but the campsite had floor heating in the amenity building. And we were safely tucked up in our bunk beds in the camper van. So all was fine.

Next day we were greeted by sunshine again and an ocean that was even more beautiful. It felt like the coastal route presented us with even more beautiful scenery than we had imagined possible. We quickly got used to traveling with the camper, it was big enough for the two of us. The beds were comfortable, the heating kept us warm in the evenings.

Campervan & Motorhome Hire Ireland - Carrick a rede Of course we went to all the highlights along the Causeway Coastal Route: The Giant’s Causeway with it’s beautiful shaped rocks. Our experience of a lifetime was the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Blue skies and no wind made us brave enough to walk the cliffs and cross the bridge! The views were worth it!

Parking the camper van was no problem at these attractions. Only in Londonderry we could not find a parking place that would fit our camper, thanks to a very nice car park warden we were allowed to park our camper van at a car park for coaches. Bless him!

We loved the Causeway Coastal Route so much that we decided to also take the Causeway Coastal Route back to Belfast Our last full day in Ireland we left the camper at the campsite and spend the day in Belfast. Bunk Campers advised us to take a famous black cab tour through West Belfast. We were impressed by what we saw. We spent the afternoon in the city centre. We loved Belfast!

Campervan & Motorhome Hire Ireland - Ireland coastOn the last day we returned our camper van in one piece back to the depot. Very proud of ourselves! We truly had the Road Trip of our Lifetime. Thank you all at Ireland Tourism and Bunk Campers.
