We all love the role that he played in Meet the Fockers with his high-tech RV as a secret base for his spying activities. But in real life Robert de Niro has his very own motorhome too. Whilst it might be a pimped-out RV that accommodates up to 30 people, Robert de Niro is as much a fan of the open road and the freedom to explore that motorhome holidays bring as the rest of us.

2. The Vee-Dub Club

The iconic VW Campervan has gained as much of a celebrity status as many of the stars that we know and love. After all, the rich and famous need some wheels worthy of their presence when they hit the road, and they don’t come much cooler than the classic VW. Jamie Oliver toured around Italy for one of his series, whilst One Direction turned heads as they rolled through Wales on a recent trip. Even F1 stars like to escape life in the fast lane, with Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton even making appearances at Silverstone to show off their pride and joy.

Always a fan of putting vehicles to the test, the Top Gear boys did just that in the Motorhome Challenge to Cornwall. Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May each had to build their own vehicles that would be practical for a road trip through the UK, and it makes for pretty funny viewing as their try to manoeuvre their makeshift creations from A to B. Richard Hammond is a big fan of UK campervan holidays, and after having a great first time away with his family in a rented VW, went and bought one of his own.

Even the stars at Beckingham Palace love the unique charms of motorhome getaways, and have been known to take several family trips away in their camper in the past. It just goes to show that you don’t have to be on a low budget to enjoy a road trip in a motorhome; they offer an escape that you can’t get from any five star experience.
